Anywho. This morning we got maybe an hour of floor time after last nights 600+ mile drive.
The walk from the school to the stadium took about 20 minutes. And half of the time there was no sidewalk. I wasn't too bothered by it, but it wasn't too fun either.
So we get to this stadium. And well. Just look.
That's a replay board.....
And the press box is made of glass
Yeah. High school football stadium. I'm sure there will be more like this
I worked the metronome all morning til lunch.
I had no idea Texas was so windy. It has been literally like rising a roller coaster. Fast hot wind.
But
This morning I got a thumbs up from the drum major Ben because I did a good job for one part of the visual rehearsal. :)
The show calls for a acceleration over 3 measures at a certain part. And I nailed it every time.
The food truck volunteers brought some food for us to the stadium so we would have to walk back.
Then I hiked up to the top of the stadium while sectionals were happening. What a view!
More metronome work....
The snack. Just some chips and cookies.
Then ensemble.
Hop bought everyone a bottle of gatorade :)
As the sun set on rehearsal...
I looked at my battle scars from the sun and my feet. I wore flip flops and I put sun screen on my feet but the sun was relentless.
I got it in Tennessee. But it got worse today. I resorted to wearing flip flops and socks. It's not that uncommon believe or not.
I finished out ensemble and waited for the run through.
I'm always surprised at how many people come to the rehearsals. Just regular people. Probably some local band kids and a few drum corp fans. It's so cool that they let them come on for free. There was probably 50 'civilians' here tonight.
After the run through I was roped into being a person who carries off the panels at the side of the field.
We took everything down to a truck and put the stuff on this u-haul type trailer that attaches to the back of a truck. When we put the rack of panels on the staff told us to wait there until the pit came with their stuff to see if it was alright.
It wasn't alright.
Basically is was a big clusterf**k
I waited for like an hour while everyone that was done their jobs went back to the housing site to dinner. I ate at 11:30. And I wasn't even hungry anymore.
Blahhhhhhh
