Day 2

After the incredibly long drive to the Pittsburgh area, we got here at 7:15. They let us sleep until 8:30 in the gym (known as floor time). I was woken up by a slow fade of music. I didn't know the first one but the second song they played was Dave Matthews Band :) I appreciated that. Then I had a hearty breakfast of a half a bagel with butter.

Then came the first rehearsal. The corps spent most of the morning learning the new drill for the end of the show. The metronome was running at 200 beats per minute. It's fast. I'm on the back sideline with one of the drum majors and the backfield conductor. It was amazing to watch these people work. Around 1:30 it was time for lunch. Grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was pretty good.

Sectionals came after lunch

I talked with the drum majors about using the met (short for metronome). After sectionals we had a full brass sectional where I could really start to get to know the music.

The pit got these sweet church bells to use during the finale of the show. I'm not sure how good they sound, but they look freaking sweet.

We had snack or what I heard some other people calling it first dinner. Baked ziti. Pretty good.

Then we went to full ensemble work. I got a few pictures

That is from my view on the back side line.

All afternoon it was windy and cold. I was freezing.

After fixing and cleaning a few things, the corps put on a show for the local crowd.
I decided to watch because I've been standing backfield all day and I want to see what the front looks like!

Encore

I had a great dinner of chicken alfredo. And the volunteers made got chocolate for us. I love them. Its really a thankless job that they have. Everyone just shows up and eats. But I'm here to thank them. Because I'm picky, and I liked everything I ate today :)

I'm on the bus now. It's gonna be a while until we leave. But I'm just relaxing until we leave. I'm showered, clean, fed, and warm. I need to get a lot of sleep tonight. Tomorrow there is no floor time to be had. We'll be in Louisville KY. In a big stadium I hear. I'll have pictures. Stay tuned.
