Day 6

Today was a pretty good day. I spent the morning watching the corps stretch etc .. You know the drill by now. I got up to the field before anyone else today.

I can tell you that the mornings always suck. I'm going to elaborate today. In the mornings we have a visual block. Which lasts anywhere from 2-3 hours. It is a very dead, boring, dry block. Nothing really happens on my part. And it's hard to see any difference in the corps when they have this rehearsal. There is a person on the top of the bleachers who is correcting things. And it seems to be a very unproductive but equally as intense rehearsal.

It's frustrating to me I think because I do the same thing with basically the same outcome every time. There's no music during this block. There's only percussion parts that I can't follow yet. I don't really mess up during this block but I just don't like it. It's a very boring. Very. But I try to keep my head on straight for it.

The day came and went as it normally did. Lunch. Drum sectional. Brass sectional. Snack.

Let's talk about lunch for a second. So. All the staff want us to stay hydrated. So drink a lot of water. But I like ice tea. Soooo. I figure I drink a lot of ice tea. Like enough that I think I'm going to pop. The go sit down for 5 minutes. And I'm good to go. This is the plan. I'll keep you updated on any irregular activity due to this practice.

Here's my current condition. Tan and Tired. I can't Imagine what it would be like to march in this corps.

So. It's time for ensemble. I go to the bathroom and when I walk out everyone is gathered around Hop. I walk over and I hear this.

It's going to rain. And I don't want the equipment to be ruined. So pack up your stuff for Texas. Dinner in an hour. Leave by 9. THE REST OF THE DAY CANCELLED. yay.

So now I'm on the bus and it is the end of my day. At 7pm. Tennessee time. Whatever that is.

I learned today that when we're in Los Angeles we do a performance at the Yamaha headquarters. And then a free day at the beach. So hopefully I will be able to meet up with some friends that live out there. Hoping for that to work out.

Tonight we have a 12 hour drive to Saginaw, Texas. All night on the bus. I'm actually kind of looking forward to it. Idk why. Maybe this place is making me crazy. Or maybe I'm just on a high from having no ensemble rehearsal tonight. Either way. I'm a happy camper :). We'll see what tomorrow brings.
