Ok so today. Woke up. Showered. Rehearsed on a crappy field with the drums while the brass was on a lined baseball field. It wasn't good.
But the views around us were pretty cool.
I spent the morning with the drums again.
You can't tell but the sand was very red. Looked like Mars.
Staff decided that it would be a good idea to leave this site because we couldn't work productively here. So we went to the show site to do some practice. I'm not sure how we got that. But I'm sure we had to pull a few strings
I spent the first block with the drums again. And then the second was full ensemble. It was getting to be more and more hot outside as the day went on.
There is a tuba graduate student that I go to Penn State with. He did his undergrad at The University of New Mexico. And he was in the area so we made plans to meet up.
After ensemble, we loaded the panels onto the transportation device. And we were off. We ended up having to push in up a big hill. Kinda sucked.
Then I met up with Sean outside the gate for the show. We talked for about 10 minutes. Then I walked back down to where the hornline was warming up.
They did some warm up tunes and finished with Rocky Point again. So good.
Then we walked up to the show.
It went ok. Screens looked good. Good crowd reactions. 2 standing ovations. Wasn't as good a's it could be tho. We were second and so the sun was still out. And it was right at the top of the bleachers aka everyone's eyes.
Went back and unloaded the panels. Got a drink and sat down and enjoyed a New Mexico sunset. Life is good
I guess that makes up for the near 8 hour bus ride.
Goodnight!
