Since I'm in the front seat, I always get a good spot to sleep. When I woke up this morning, I didn't feel too well. Due to some technical errors last night a vehicle got a flat tire, something else happened to the merchandise car, people got the wrong information...
Anyway, our housing site is about a 5 minute drive from the stadium that we're using. When we got to the stadium, breakfast wasn't ready because of the problems that happened last night. I elected to stay on the bus and nap a little bit and hope that I'd feel better when I woke up.
I got up and felt a little better. I had a small helping of eggs and a sausage link for breakfast hoping it would tide me over until lunch. Lunch is always very late here it seems. I'm not sure why? Maybe because everyone crashes after it? Probably.
I spent the morning watching the corps stretch etc.
Some of the different parts of the show call for different uses of the metronome. For example, during most of this morning I had to follow the drumline on the field with the met in order for them to hear it clearer.
Then we ate lunch. I had a chicken burrito. It was pretty good. Really filling. I went on the bus after lunch and the awesome bus driver came on and turned on the air conditioning. Thank god. It's pretty hot here. And we're only in Tennessee. I guess I should prepare for the worst :/
I don't really have any duties during sectionals. Today I chilled around the baritone sectional
I sat at percussion rehearsal until the Brad (Drum Major) called me in to run the met. I had a solid performance at this sectional. Cleaned up my record as a metronome runner person thing.
Ensemble rehearsal went pretty well from my standpoint tonight. The corps seemed the be clicking for the most part too.
I was thinking during tonight's rehearsal. Last week I NEVER thought that I would be sitting in Tennessee tonight. I am having a great time but, today I realized I wouldn't be able to take a dip in the pool soon. Or take a random road trip to the drive in movies etc. Like a normal summer. But I guess this is not a normal summer.
The Cadets reminded me why I was here tonight. They put on a above average performance at the end of rehearsal today. I got chills a few times. And that's saying something. The staff have been pushing them to practice with the same finesse that they have when they perform. Today could definitely be a turning point in the upcoming season. I'm excited for the first show in Texas in a few days, and I'm not even performing!
That is all for today. Tomorrow and the next day we are in the same place. So you know what that means... FLOOR TIME. ALL NIGHT. I'm happy. Goodnight.
